When it comes to SAP technical skills standard IT consultancies are often found wanting. The organisational boundaries found amongst the big players mean that their SAP technical staff usually lack the breadth of knowledge SAP demands. Even if a customer should be fortunate enough to find a consultancy able to cover all the areas needed, the skills are frequently only made available to them from within a large number of different teams. This results in a system that works, but one that can never truly be considered to have been implemented as the integrated solution that SAP intended.
